Batley Girls' High School had an immediate and pressing need for an additional five English teaching classrooms and two Science teaching laboratories. The school did not have enough space to teach these core subjects and were being forced to teach in other parts of the school away from their respective departments.
Westborough High School were faced with relocating their existing library to create more general teaching spaces within the main school. With limited space options and timescales to create a new library, a modular solution was explored and chosen as the preferred construction method. The brief was Limehurst Academy required more teaching space to meet the needs of an expanding school. Under a challenging programme, the facility had to be completed and ready for a grand opening day introducing the building to the new student intake before the school closed for summer.
Rapidly shifting demographics, with the burgeoning demand for school places, is a familiar twenty-first century issue, and planning for the likelihood of increased capacity is a continual priority for educational authorities across the country. Such a situation faced St Mark’s CE Primary School.
