When the Thomas Danby College identified the need for an on-site crèche facility, MPH were entrusted with the task of providing a full design and build package.

The proposed crèche was conceived with the intention of enabling students with children to gain access to daycare facilities whilst attending lectures on campus.

With a capacity for up to 60 children, the client brief for the proposed nursery accommodation included provision for a car park, access road, security fencing and soft play areas.

After consultation with the local planning authority, the design team drew up plans for a sympathetic proposal to compliment the existing architecture and colour schemes of the college.

A number of 3D computer generated images were presented to the college for consideration before the final colour scheme was agreed. The approved design included ‘sun bronzed’ glazing, special order plastisol steel external cladding and a deluxe fascia detail to enhance the external appearance of the building.

Measuring 360sq metres, the new crèche incorporated a number of client specified features including colour coded door furniture to distinguish the use of internal rooms and large patio style doors that opened onto the external play areas.
