Waterloo Surgery

When the old Waterloo surgery became the casualty of a healthcare redevelopment project, MPH came to their aid with a temporary bridging solution.

Dispensing with the existing doctors’ surgery and pharmacy as part of the LIFT initiative, the existing building was scheduled to be demolished and re-built on the original site. An adjacent site was designated to house the temporary surgery where the practice would decant for an interim period of 18 months.

MPH were successful in a competitive tender process and plans were implemented to design and manufacture a fully operational GP surgery to meet the prescribed client specification.

An essential condition of the new scheme contained the provision of an on-site secure pharmacy. Integrating the pharmacy within the fabric of the new structure, the modular building design was doctored to include a roller shutter security door and steel walls both internally and externally.

The overall success of the relocation project was dependent on administering a sensitive and effective solution resulting in minimum disruption to the day-to-day running of the surgery.

Adhering to a clinical build programme, MPH achieved completion on site within just four weeks of placement of the order, ensuring a seamless transition for staff and patients alike.

At 316sq metres, the purpose-designed modular building was constructed to comply fully with all latest HTM building note regulations and contained consulting rooms, patient treatment rooms, practice managers office, waiting room, stores and toilets for disabled user access.
